Red Sox’s loss of Alex Bregman was devastating. Their explanation for what happened was just as bad.

  1. How many times are we going to talk about the same thing?…

Just make a mega thread to complain in.

We get it, ownership is cheap, Breslow is a puppet

  2. Sign Bichette and everything is fine. Will that happen? Don’t have a lot of hope personally.

  3. I’d say “devastating” is a pretty strong word. It’s unfortunate. They got a similar bat in Contreras, though they could use another influential veteran to keep the competitive spirit up.

  4. Not signing a 32 year old 3B in decline to a horrible deal isn’t a disaster. I’m glad.

  5. One of the many things this article nails is its description of Breslow: ‘..he runs the club with a ruthless, robotic, un-human efficiency.’

  6. The fact that they balked at a no trade clause and wanted aggressive deferments tells us all we need to know about their intent. This was a two year deal with the likelihood of moving him around year 3 having paid very little in relative terms. Honestly, it’s all just gross and reeks of an ownership that’s hurtling towards a lockout.

  7. It seemed pretty obvious he was going to chase the money. I personally would like to spend on younger players. But not sure Bichette is the answer either
