Steelers are expected to speak with former Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy about their head coach vacancy. McCarthy is from Pittsburgh, and worked with Steelers GM Omar Khan in New Orleans in 2000.

  1. No one panic. He is a local guy I always figured he would get an interview. I wouldn’t think he will be a frontrunner for the job.

  2. Fuck no. Please don’t. He’s just white Tomlin at best with an offensive background rather than defensive. Dude even admitted that he lied to the Cowboys to get that job. I wouldn’t believe a word he says

  3. This would basically be trading Mike Tomlin for white Mike Tomlin. He’s better suited for a team struggling to find consistency, not for making playoff runs.

  4. 0% chance he is the head coach and we all know this if we are paying attention. However, I am wondering if they would keep him on the back burner to be the associate head coach and offensive coordinator given the fact that we are almost certainly going to hire a younger coach.

  5. Maybe they’re just asking him who he’d recommend for the job. Because it’s not fucking him thats for sure.

  6. Since he’s coached in the NFC for most of his career, I admittedly don’t know a ton about him. Looked at his track record and it looks really solid.

Came to this comment thread and it’s extremely negative. What does everyone hate about him so much?

  7. I would be cool if he was hired to be OC. Definitely not HC. Mike McCarthy is the white Mike Tomlin. No thanks.

  8. I’d be ok if he was assistant to whoever becomes our head coach who’s young and inexperienced. If he becomes our actual Head Coach I give up on this franchise.
