[Montemurro] Cubs have called up catcher Miguel Amaya called up from Double A. LHP Ryan Borucki designated for assignment. Yan Gomes is still under evaluation.

4. That’s pretty odd… Borucki was on the roster for what, 48 hours.

   The 40 man is back down to 39, this is very interesting

   I also hope he figures it out. He was notoriously pretty bad for the Mariners last year. Fans called him “Bore-Yucky” during some of his lesser outings

   Since Smyly went seven innings yesterday and thereby removed a lot of bullpen usage disaster scenarios for the games today and tomorrow, Borucki wasn’t likely to be needed.

   He’s not getting picked up off waivers, so the DFA is just him getting sent back to AAA.

7. Really hope Yan recovers quickly, if we’ve learned anything it’s that he is very important to this team. But also excited to see what Amaya can do

9. If you had told me that Amaya would debut before Mervis I would not have believed it. Nice to see Amaya make the show after a grueling couple of years!

10. Strange that this isn’t bigger news! I know Amaya’s luster has gone away somewhat but he was our top prospect and heir apparent catcher before he dealt with those injuries. Hope he can life up to his original hype!
