1. Great. Honestly don’t care. Tkachuk didn’t want to be in Calgary. I saw him leaving from the start. He is out for money and isn’t going to be loyal to any team to get it.

3. He woulda signed long term and would have made a good captain. Personally I think he’s a slow skater but he cares.

   Florida is reaping the benefits of two of our former guys who “cared”. Benny and him are gonna do good things sadly in Miami. Ah well. Bad asset mgmt.

5. Treliving/Flames could have signed Tkachuk longterm (6 to 8yrs) after his ELC – he was willing – but instead they choose to do a bridge deal to keep Frolik.

   They ended up trading Frolik anyway 5 months later.

   Flames in a nutshell: think short term; get burned longterm.

   A fundamental rule of the cap era is to lock up your elite talent for as long as possible and worry about the “depth” later or you’ll end up regretting it. Hopefully the new management has learned from the mistakes of the last one.

    McDavid was legendary but it think the Oilers would make the playoffs without him.
