  1. I think the missing context is the first half of those trades besides Muzzin were about repairing the bad cap situation left by previous administrations

  2. Some weird results for a few of these. The Muzzin and Zaitsev trades were absolutely wins. I’m surprised the Murray trade is polling 50/50, I’d call that a loss (should’ve been able to get a better asset for taking on Murray’s contract)

  3. The immediate, reactionary shock and fear of losing Dubas has now been replaced with a willingness for most fans to critically assess his tenure. I’m very happy to see it.

    The sky is not falling.

  4. Hind sight is 20/20. Having said that, looking at it the way the Twitter thread illustrates, it seems pretty even, though i dont agree with all the poll results. Some wins and some losses. The issue I have is that the losses seem to be to cover up for previous signings or trades that didn’t work out.

The Sandin trade is one that may look like a disaster or may look brilliant in the future. Depending on his health and development. It reminds me of the Stralman move, to be honest.

  5. So we got a third and seventh rd pick for taking on Murray contract, but the cost now for dumping his contract is now a first rd pick. So 45% of leaf fan consider that a win?

  6. W after W.

it’s absolutely maddening that the days where Wyle Wubas had perhaps the greatest run of any sports executive came to such an unnatural conclusion

  7. The entire tenure of Dubas is swing and miss. There are exactly 2 trades that impressed me.

The return for Kap. The dumping of Mrazek at such a low cost.

Every other trade seemed to be paying a big price at least big value (or above) or lots of them that were flat out bad. Muzzin is a perfect example. People call that a great trade, but realistically, he got a 2nd pairing defenseman for two solid prospects and a first. He paid a premium for him.

Every deadline move is an overpay, but that’s how the league works. People like Dubas because he’s an active GM. Doesn’t matter that a lot of his moves hurt the team far more than it helped.
