I’ve said it before but I’ve been very impressed with Varland’s mental game. A lot of guys would need some time to get their mindset back after a disappointing end to a stint in the majors but he’s right back in the lab working to get better. That attitude is going to help him get the most out of his abilities and become (I think) a real contributor at the big league level.
Gleeman said on a recent podcast that he showed up to Concordia with a 4 Seam Fastball in the 80s. If you don’t believe in the Falvey pitching pipeline after this….
