Thoughts on Denzel Mims?

Looks like the Jets are going to [cut him](https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-jets-will-waive-denzel-mims-if-they-cant-trade-him) if they can’t trade him.

Young, very athletic WR (4.39 40, 9.75 RAS). I wouldn’t mind us bringing him in and seeing what he can do. What says you?

  1. No no no and no. We have 2 sophomore season studs and just drafted a couple tight ends. We don’t need a bust on the team

  2. He seems like the exact type of athletic “potential” we all get super pumped for that ultimately does nothing and or gets cut during camp

  3. He’s talented, but has done nothing in the league. We already have a couple guys with his skill set: big, fast, less change of direction

  4. They liked him in the draft and they usually hold on to their crushes.

  5. You’re one of those people who wanted him in the AR12 trade, right?

    No then and no now.

  6. Add depth for training camp/preseason? Maybe. Right now we have so many WRs on contract though. He’d have to show some type of out to put a WR on contract on the chopping block (especially with how young they all are).

  7. I’d be okay if they took a flier on him for the bare minimum. I think he’d be nothing more than another body in camp to eventually get cut for a much younger player. On second though, nope.

  8. I think he’s interesting… but I’m more interested in the guys we already have in camp. It might take a while, but I think our receivers will evolve into a nice unit.

  9. Why? We have enough bottom tier WRs to evaluate.

Cracks me up how we should sign every potential FA.

  10. I wouldn’t mind if they put in a claim on him. His contract is small and not guaranteed, he is athletic and has potential that hasn’t worked out yet. That being said there is a bit of a logjam of similar guys (athletic, inexperienced)

  11. I wouldn’t want to trade for him, I guess I would pick Mims over having Jeff Cotton at wr8 though lol.

The FO had interest in him when he was drafted and last year as a trade target I believe, so I’m sure they’re looking into it.

Can’t imagine after his lackluster production that they’re as interested anymore but you never know with our FO.

  12. We really have nothing but guys with potential. I think the best thing to help the offense would be to get someone who is somewhat proven. Then again, it will be increasing the odds that at least 2-3 work out.

  13. “I wouldn’t mind us bringing him in and seeing what he can do” I wonder how many times that has been said in this sub

  14. Please this sub has to recognize garbage when they see it

He won’t ever be a thing & thats ok. Let some other putrid team take a flyer on him bc i an so confident Packers have 5 WRs better than he is, full well knowing the Packers have one of the most inexperienced groups in the league

  15. Obvious pickup is he becomes available. We have Watson, Doubs, Reed, all guys with potential but haven’t proven anything. Behind them the depth is even worse. Would easily be one of the most talented WRs on the roster, and sometimes guys just need a fresh start, look at Campbell and Douglas.

  16. If Packers wanted him, they would’ve tried to get him in the Rodgers trade. I guarantee the Jets would’ve thrown him in instead of the 6th round pick or something

  17. People shit on Denzel Mims too much for a guy who was only behind Garrett Wilson, Elijah Moore, and Corey Davis (all 1st or 2nd round picks and in their prime). I don’t have any idea if Denzel Mims can be good, but being behind those guys doesn’t make you bad

  18. This is finally the year…..to not want a free agent wr. We need to let our 2nd year guys cook and our rookies (talking TE as well) to show what they can do.

Honestly, it’s perfect. If they work, they work. If they don’t and love doesn’t show us anything? Then we are starting over anyway.

  19. I covered him at Baylor. He had some pf that Jordy sideline control. If he’s cheap enough then we should take a flier on him.
