I’m so glad these kind of stances are going away. It’s like they were trying to piss us off or something
Mickey Tettleton. He looked like my 3 yr old when holding a heavy bat.
Jose oquendo
Luke Voit’s 2021 stance looked like a Keith Haring painting
Chuck knablock
Oscar Gamble, who looked like he was having cramps.
Julio Franco comes to mind, as does Jeff Bagwell when you look at it from the LH batter box view.
Bagwell
[deleted]
Glenallen Hill and BJ Surhoff
Rickey Henderson
Brian Downing.
Bobby Tolan
Tony Batista. Weird, but if you get the timing right, oh baby.
mickey tettleton
Moises Alou always had a goofy one. Even the way he wore his helmet was goofy.
Phil Plantier always looked like he was hovering over a toilet
Wasn’t at this level but gotta mention Mark Teixeira who looked like he had just had ice water poured down his back in the batter’s box
yes.
Rod Carew
Mickey Tettleton’s stance was quite strange.
Gary! Gary! Gary! Gary! Sheffield
We need that batting stance guy to weigh in on craziest. He knows everyone.
Pissmissle 5000 stance
Dwight Evans
Craig was just leveraging gravity to his advantage
Hey that’s my cousin!
I think this is a technique to keep the front shoulder closed. Brendan Ryan used to lick his front shoulder before every pitch. My guess is a previous coach suggested the odd behavior because you have to pull your shoulder back to do it.
Rickey Henderson, Rod Carew, Pete Rose, Carl Crawford, Aaron Rowand, Coco Crisp, Albert Pujols
I’m sure cal Ripken at one time or another had a weird stance. I’ve never seen someone switch a stance more then him
Other than “trickle down economics works”?
No, I can’t think of one.
As a kid watching baseball, mimicking different guys batting stances while playing wiffle ball was just the best… I always liked Juan Gonzalez,Gary Shedfield, and Ken Griffey, Jr
No idea why my brain remembers this is Craig Counsell. I don’t remember anything else about Craig Counsell!
It wasn’t just the stance. It was the bouncing haha
Game 7 World Series hero. Put some respect on his name.
Rod Carew
Julio Franco
I thought immediately of Julio Franco, and Mickey Tettleton, two of the greatest Rangers ever if ranked by batting stance.
I once heard Counsell’s stance described as “a chimney sweep who missed a spot”
