    I remember when she became a coach for the Spurs. No surprise, based on who she is and who Pop and the Spurs are. But we were all absolutely thrilled and hopeful that the change we all hoped for could actually come one day… that women could be respected for who we are, even in sport.

  17. it is hard to imagine that anyone but Popovich would have accepted her at the time. Not an assiduous NBA fan, I had never heard of her. She did have a remarkable career I found out. Even politics came into play when she played for Russia after refused even a tryout with the US team. She has guts.

    There could be an implicit target in her comment about her parents being in Africa maybe "hunting and killing animals". Of course they were not doing that, but some famous people still do that.

  27. Honestly, there is plenty of room in basketball for folks with immeasurable traits like passion and grit. Such traits fuel tenacity and perseverance. Hammon is proof of that! I remember suggesting to Finley over the phone that he get Pop/Spurs to look at Hammon. Greatness! Mavs ManiAAC 2003-2015

  28. I love how Becky just told the whole world her parents are animal poachers. Some people don't care. Some do. I'm an animal lover. Unreal. Take that cross off your neck. She probably does the same thing.

  31. Michael Cooper is my favourite player. 5time champion the very first 3&D player. He's maybe the best defender of the best era and he was fighter like a lion. M. Cooper is also 2time champion as a WNBA couch but not in this Hall of fame. Then there's Becky Hammon SPURS assistant couch. There must be some things that I do not understand…
