  1. This team might win a couple more games with DeMeco and Stroud but this isn’t going to be a playoff contender this year. Six wins should be considered a massive improvement for this team.

  2. CJS took massive steps forward. He looked calm and threw the ball well. Great to see.

  3. Demeco should be ashamed of the team he put out there today after two joint practices. Embarrassing. Know it’s just preseason but today was BAD.

  4. Stroud is a lot more comfortable with the starting OL lol.

Considering the reports from camp I thought they’d have more issues with the Dolphins DL today but they held up pretty well. They still need work on opening up more running lanes since the run game still seems limited.

Stroud can make some great throws and displayed it on that FG drive. They also sat down Dell today so that was a potent weapon that didn’t play.

The drop by Noah in the two minute drive really sucked. Great play by Stroud to extend the play and gave Noah a good ball.

Defense struggled with the Dolphins run game. Obviously, the Dolphins are a top tier offense so they can take it to you and if they can run on you good luck stopping that offense.

They pulled all the starters and 2nd team guys by mid second quarter on defense and offense wasn’t really able to sustain any long drives. Too many penalties or mix-ups. Although that’ll get cleaned up it’s going to be an annoyance they’ll have to work through as the offense gets settled in.

  5. Not too surprised to see Stroud playing better. He was pretty bad in his first start at OSU so he might just need some time to cook. I didn’t catch the game but it looked pretty rough as a whole though.

  6. I’m surprised they didn’t flag Will when he pounced on the QB to try and recover that fumble

  7. Pack it up, y’all. We’re doomed. The fringe roster guys and guys that won’t make the team played terribly. /s

In all seriousness, there are a couple things to take away from this. The positives: CJ displayed improvement, which is what we should be asking of him this year. Will Anderson looked like a monster as well, and our starting squad seemed okay.

The negatives: Our depth has been exposed as questionable. Yea, most of these guys will not make the final roster, but we all know injuries happen so we do need those guys to be okay. Also Matt Burke’s playcalling was not good this week.

Overall, it was a tough watch, but let’s not overreact. Nobody was saying we were playoff caliber beating the Pats, so there’s no reason to overreact in the other direction either. Let’s just move on.

  8. One thing that stuck out to me today was the number of drops we had from receivers. Both CJ and Mills had some very decent throws that could have been for big gains, thrown right on the money, that were just miffed. Like that one to I think Simms where he was wide open, but he couldn’t catch it and it shot straight up in the air. Can’t really put that on the quarterback. Hopefully they get that corrected moving forward.

  9. Stadium was about 65% full from where I was sitting. The fans are with their Texans this year, nothing but good vibes.

  10. Can’t believe how many people overreact to preseason stuff 😂. They have a lot of execution stuff to fix and now is a great time to fix it considering the games don’t mean anything. Btw I love the progress CJ showed this game in his ability to get settled and execute. We saw that precision passing and elite ball placement on display. Seeing that in preseason game 2 is promising because it’s just less to have to worry about going into the season. Also, we aren’t expecting to make a SB run. Just want to see progress and growth from the team. Remember that!

  11. Glad Stroud got to play for a half this game, definitely showed some better poise in the pocket and some nice play action. He has stuff he needs to work on, but I think today was positive for him. The running game looked like poop, and it’s hard to handwave that away as just preseason. The pass catchers were okay, I think there were some miscommunication between them and Stroud on some plays, but, I think the group is improved.

The defense kind of got the shit kicked out of them today. They had a couple of good drive killing plays, but, I do think the coaches are definitely going to hammer them over that second drive Miami had.
