  1. We… literally just beat the Cowboys 2 days ago and we already mollywhopped the Dolphins. Isn’t the whole point of rankings like these like, who would beat who in a head to head matchup?

  2. FYI, ESPN’s power rankings are much different, where the Eagles are number one. This is just how their algorithm is, though, it definitely seems like it needs some work. The 49ers are coming no off 3 straight losses and are number 4 😬

  3. Some context on what goes into FPI would be helpful. Probably favors something the eagles thus far have lacked such as big blow out wins or some other metric

  4. I don’t even care about where the eagles are. The bills shouldn’t be that high and the chargers shouldn’t even be on there.

  5. They put this shit out for exactly whats happening. People get upset over their rank and then either go to their website, or talk about their rankings. No publicity is bad publicity and no one is easier to rile up than football fans. Its why half their shows are the dumbest people in sports media yelling hot takes at each other, they don’t care if its right if it drives clicks. 8-1 and Im not afraid of anyone in the league, enjoy the good times and ignore ESPN.

  6. This is a waste of time, but the Chargers and Bills on a list over the Lions is fucking terrible, algorithm or not.

  7. The problem with these lists is they need to distinguish if they are “end of season projection lists” or “current strength lists” and no fucking way eagles are below two teams they’ve beaten in the past three weeks.

Reading the article on the FPI, it’s 63% accurate and is for the future. So… it’s stupid. I too can predict the future without any consequences for being 37% wrong.

  8. Eh. Whatever. I’d rather be considered an underdog. A wise mummer once said: Hungry dogs run faster.

  9. imagine if any QB ranked lower than Purdy here was the 9ers QB. they would make that swap in a heartbeat. i mean Hurts and Burrow are QBs who have taken teams to the Superbowl, and they’re putting Purdy over them? lol

  10. You know these lists are intentionally stupid because that results in people sharing and commenting on them, right? Rankings don’t mean shit and idk why people give af

  11. I’m 90% sure point differential has a large hand in this algorithm used to develop these rankings, which is why we’re so low.

I don’t think I single actual NFL fan puts us 7th in the league, but we do have a tendency to win closer games and we haven’t had a single blow out this season

  12. Is this really the most recent? Buffalo has been dog water, SF has lost 3 in a row, we literally beat Miami and Dallas lmao. What am I missing?

  13. Nah cmon. We’ve beaten two of these teams?

If you want to argue that the cowboys vs eagles is a coin flip, but how are dolphins up here

  14. This ranking is going to get hate but I have no problem with it. Sure, the Eagles are 8-1 but when you are giving up 400 passing yards a game, making Sam Howell look like Peyton Manning, and turning the ball over a ton, an analytical system isn’t going to like you.

Thankfully the games aren’t played with computers. Go Birds.

  15. Eagles will never get the respect they deserve from the national media. Even when rated 1 in power rankings the discussion is full of caveats and cheers for our opponents. Doubt the Eagles all you want, it feeds this team. Best run defense in the league. 3rd ranked offense. 8-1 without playing clean or our best ball yet. Hurts has 15 consecutive regular season wins against teams over .500. We scored 28 on the vaunted Cowboys defense. We held the vaunted Miami offense to 10 offensive points. We held the vaunted Cowboys offense to 6 second half points. Statistically and with the eye test I don’t know how you doubt this team. And yes we lost to the Jets but let’s not forget the Chiefs lost to Denver, the Ravens lost to the Colts and Steelers (and almost Cardinals), the 49ers have three straight losses, the Bills lost to the Jets, Patriots, and almost the Giants (14-9), Cowboys lost to the Cardinals. I could go on.

  16. I remember it being very similar last year. Whatever algorithm they have been using is clearly trash.

  17. This has nothing to do with “the media doubting us,” it’s a formula that isn’t high on our team probably because of point differentials over the course of the game.

  18. You are not reading this right. 7. Seven”.:

**Seven was symbolic in ancient near eastern and Israelite culture and literature. It communicated a sense of “fullness” or “completeness” (שבע “seven” is spelled with the same consonants as the word שבע “complete/full”).**

They really mean Jalen is “the 1”. And that is why he wears that number.

  19. SF and Baltimore wouldn’t get within a TD. JA and Herbert melt when the heat is turned up too. We beat Miami. We should be 2nd *at worst*
