  1. The truth is that this team probably barely wins a series as constructed (if we’re lucky), and is going to get crazy expensive, so probably the right move to make, but I am not ready to say goodbye to some of these dudes who have genuinely liked this team since they arrived man.

  2. Idk how we make the salaries work without including either one of BI, CJ, or Z. I guess unless we’d be giving both JV and Larry. Idk how this happens

  3. I have no idea who we sending to match salary but hopefully it’s picks mostly going. Maybe like Naji, Dyson?

  4. Giving up Trey and/or Herb would be so painful but honestly we’ve all known we have too many wings and not enough money and minutes to spread around. Even knowing Jonas’ limitations I love who he’s been as part of this franchise too so it seems like pain all around but sometimes tough decisions end up being for the best and both Dejounte and Onyeka could be great pieces with Zion and Ingram. Not to mention if we also find a way to keep CJ in all of this. A starting 5 of Dejounte, CJ, Ingram, Zion and Okungwu is very promising and everybody but CJ would be on a similar timeline

  5. We CANNOT trade Herb. Dude shut everyone down last night. Made Kawhi look clumsy. Dejounte has never done anything for me.

  6. I don’t really like it.

We’re having the best season in franchise history and the team chemistry is there. Let’s ride it out with our guys. Hell we just beat the hottest team in the NBA on the road last night.

  7. With this and the other report saying we want to pair Murray with CJ first makes me feel like this really won’t happen. 2nd if it did I would imagine it would be around BI or Zion. JV and either Herb or Nance works money wise this year, but the issue is the extension for Murray and Okongwu that kick in next year (Murray $25M, Okongwu $14M) would vault us into the 2nd tier tax next season.

For comparison Nance Herb, Dyson for those 2 would increase our current team by $4M putting us into the tax, but dropping us below the tax next season by not resigning JV. I know these are hot names, but I will wait and see what happens it might be a lot of smoke and no fire

  8. Is it possible that this becomes a three team deal that reroutes Murray to the Nets? Maybe instead of just pick packages for Mikal Bridges, they want another proven young player? Just theorizing cause I don’t love the Dejounte fit. But I could see the Nets liking something like Dejounte and Trey/Herb, Atlanta taking mostly picks, and we get Mikal and Okongwu.

I’m definitely not emotionally prepared to let go of Herb or Trey (especially not Herb). And I also might be deep in tinfoil hat mode on this one, but the thought intrigued me.

  9. Think about this realistically if we trade for Murray then herb will likely be traded or benched … as they’ll probably go for a Murray cj bi Zion Val starting side … trading for
Murray is a BAD idea . Especially if you love herb

  10. If Woj is now reporting on it, there might be more to this. Yet that “could potentially” could also mean this has a high chance of going nowhere & it’s BS (plz be BS).

  11. Dejounte is on an insanely good contract with similar production to Ingram.

With Ingram due a massive $45 million per season payday. It’s probably a contingency plan if Ingram is too expensive to keep or demands a trade.

We are going to have an interesting Summer where the roster will be shaken up due to the tax.

Speaking of the tax, this isn’t 2010 Luxury Tax where it was a slap on the wrist. 2nd Apron is effectively creating a hard cap.

  12. I’ve played around with the trade machine and I just can’t get any sensible trade to work out. It doesn’t make sense to me to have CJ and Murray on the same team. But making a trade centered on both is hard because Dejounte makes half of what CJ makes.
CJ + JV for Murray + Capela + Okongwu? I guess I could see that, but I don’t really like it. If not CJ, then Herb + Trey + Dyson? That’s what the Hawks sub is hoping for lol.

  13. If you’re trading for Dejounte Murray.

    It tells me 3 things.

You’re willing to become a tax team.

    Or

You’re extending Ingram and trading Zion to improve the roster

    Or

You’re trading Ingram to improve the roster.
