  1. It’s actually insane how much one man playing basketball created so much value for other people. This is just the Warriors franchise. He also sparked a whole bunch of new NBA fans around the world helped Under Armor rise up as well. One dude’s talent.

  2. While Steph Curry has definitely made a huge impact, Joe Lacob and new ownership can maybe be credited just as much or more. We started to rise well before Curry’s stardom. Tech money also helps.

  3. This could be in r/unexpected. Being that low at the start is not surprising, but passing storied franchises and becoming substantially more than even them is amazing. We have to add in Lacob as another hugely impactful person in this result, too, but it definitely does not happen without Steph.

You could probably swap in other rich businessmen to make competent owners that help the franchise value, but this absolutely does not happen with any other player. I don’t really want to think about it, but what would have happened if Curry did everything with another previously crappy franchise? We were a great situation, though, since we had a great, market, no local competition, and were like a distressed asset. We went from the arguably the worst run to one of the best, if not the best run organizations. I remember Gary St. Jean and I am thankful for where things have gone from there.

  4. My friend bought season tix when Steph was Drafted. He knew. He was right. Props to him and I thank him for all the games I’ve been able to go to.

  5. Haha Steph is definitely a big draw but I imagine a lot of this is also due to the Warriors ownership making good business decisions.

  6. It’s almost like once we got to the top…each team, except the Knicks, got more valuable together.

  7. Dang I was expecting it to end at #3, didn’t think LAL or NYK would’ve been surpassed, that’s wild.

  8. wow, i mean it is not all steph, but he is a big part of it. Can’t believe warriors are more valuable than the lakers i would never have thought that. The new arena that is not shared with any other team probably helps a lot.

  9. I know inflation also has a role in valuations over time, but our meteoric rise in value has to be studied. The way we became the most valuable franchise is just historic, and not only that, but other teams have grown in value too (also probably due to inflation) probably due to an increased interest in the NBA (and Steph and other superstars).

  10. It’s interesting the 2021 valuation leap we had.

Steph led the league in ppg. Doing it on efficient scoring. Constantly facing double teams. But the rest of our team was so ass that we came out mid, finishing as the 8th seed, and lost in the first ever play-in.

  11. in 2009 when curry was drafted by the warriors the value of the franchise was at 315 million

warriors were sold in 2010 for 450 million which at the time was an NBA record with many scoffing that it was an overpay for what was viewed by most as a morbid franchise

warriors previously had made the playoffs only 1 time in the previous 17 seasons from 1994/95 – 2009/10, hadn’t appeared in a conference finals since 1975/76, and had only 1 NBA title in their first 48 seasons in the bay area since they moved to the west coast in 1962

warriors right now are worth 7.7 billion

  12. How bout we let whole league beat the crap out of him so he gets hurt ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_down)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
