That’s too bad for him, but this was kind of expected. Besides spots being limited, he didn’t look like he earned it over the other 3-5 options. I’d like to see the stats, but it seemed like he missed a lot of pitches in the zone. He definitely didn’t slug, which was the key to his promotion. Like Mervis, it’ll now be more difficult for Canario to get an opportunity to prove he can be a big league hitter.
It’s all about options. They think Cooper has some upside and they didn’t want to lose him. Canario unfortunately will have to wait a little while to get another chance.
