  1. Nah I really don’t agree with this, we have a ton of draft capital left so we can trade someone like jrue + picks into a younger star. That would leave us with (hopefully) Jayson, jaylen, white (assuming we’re not gonna let him walk), KP, younger star (hopefully a big? Maybe bam 😳), and maybe 1 of Pritchard/Hauser. That’s still a genuinely excellent team

But, honestly, the window doesn’t end until the jays are gone. Even in the worst case scenario (what this graphic assumes) we’ll still have two all-nba wings plus an all-star caliber center in KP. That’s a great core, even if it’s not immediately a title favorite

I trust in brad to be able to extend our window. He’s done a great job so far and still has plenty of assets to work with

  2. I think Tatum being on stacked teams where he distributes more makes people forget just how effective Tatum + shooters can be. Even if they end up trading Jaylen for lots of value, I see no reason to be worried about the future for the team. I don’t think they’ll be setting records every year, but most teams don’t.

Tatum + a team that has smart players who can shoot and defend is a combo I’m not at all worried about going forward. Let’s enjoy this season and the next, because this team is better than some teams have ever had the chance to watch. Then we’ll see what Brad cooks up.

  3. This will be probably the best chance they’ll have.

But there’s no reason they can’t keep White-Brown-Tatum-Porzingis.

You’ll have to surround those guys with bargain bin guys. But they should contend for several more years.

  4. Isn’t this all based off of the assumption that ownership wouldn’t be willing to pay or is there something in the new CBA that forces you to disband your team once you get to a certain point?

  5. Also, the Warriors ownership paid the tax penalties after they won a championship. I think the Cs ownership would as well. So not all gloom and doom. And Tatum and Brown are just entering their primes. Let’s just win. Period

  6. We’ve known this since this past summer that for THIS team we basically have this season plus next year. Lots of question marks after that, but as long as we have the Jays and Brad, I have faith in our chances to be a championship contending team.

  7. This is too overly specific for me. Let’s not even focus on the Cs. Teams never have as much time or as many chances as they think and hope…unless you’ve got Bill Russell on the active roster, but we haven’t had him for a long time and no one like him has ever come along.

  8. Tatum will be just 27 years old.

All of Brown, Holiday, White, and Porzingis will be valuable trade assets on the market. So even if we have to move 1-2 of them to keep the salary bill down we should be able to trade them for players who give us 90% of the value for half the cost

We still have most of our draft capital as well. We are contenders for the next 5-6 years

  9. Maybe Tatum could do a Brady and take less since he has so many endorsements.

  10. They’re really pushing this “now or never” narrative as though all these players are 1 year rentals or about to become over the hill.

Meanwhile, Dame is about to be 34 and hasn’t won anything, but there’s been very little “this is Dame’s window! It’s now or never!”

Tons of “expert” analysts picked the Bucks to win it all, win the East, once they got Dame. But, the focus now is “omg Boston lost THREE of their last 23 games? That’s NOT a good sign!”

  11. If yall want to become a dynasty, the only path to make that happen is to trade the whole roster and build around pp. You know it, I know it, we all know it. Let your pp lead you to glory.

  12. I agree with this. We won’t have the same team after the ‘25 off season. But neither will anyone else.

But as long as we have Jaylen and Jayson on the roster, we will always be contenders.

  13. Jrue and Al will probably be gone/retired after next season. Hauser is getting a bag and leaving as well. We should be able to retain DWhite at least. That leaves us with White/Brown/Tatum/KP which is a great foundation still. We’ll still have PP who is looking like a good 6th man as well, maybe Walsh turns into something. Gotta hit on our draft picks and make good vet min signings. Yeah they wont be a 65 win team anymore but as long as the core 4 are there, this team is a contender

  14. There are mechanisms to keeping the window open. The static picture of today’s lineup has problems down the road, but the dynamic reality will surely change by the time the precipice approaches.

Off the top, Wyc has said he’ll go into the top tax tier for a contention window. That will ameliorate the most pressing issue. The cap should also continue to rise, allowing space for fixes. Those two things will allow for retention of talent like DWhite.

That is before you get to Brad’s inventiveness as a GM. When Al is ready to retire they can attach picks to move him for a cost controlled asset. They can land talent in the draft. Brad is also shrewdly stockpiling 2nds that are easy trade makers. There is also the reality that JB can be traded for a massive haul. Two way wings are always in demand and are the most sought after assets save for unicorn big men.

The window will be more difficult to keep open, but Brad is fully aware of the future troubles and will make moves to keep things moving so long as Tatum is on the roster.

  15. wouldn’t be surprised at all to see brown traded in a couple years, they would get a significant package in return and retool the team around tatum. the window won’t close for a while, tatum is just entering his prime years.

  16. I mean this is pretty much nonsense, we can literally sign white, jrue, tatum, and use our wealth of draft capital to keep the roster fresh. We are in a much better position than pretty much any other contender not named the Oklahoma City thunder

  17. i think we’re losing al, with xavier tillman hopefully stepping up to fill in his role. jrue will have to sign for less and give that extra money to the white pay raise, if he doesn’t sign for less idk if we resign him considering his age

  18. They need to make the absolute most out of any opportunity to win a championship while the window is open regardless. Worrying about how long the window is open is pointless.

  19. The decision is an offseason dilemma.

Right now we have to a win a championship and then figure out who to keep aboard to get the next one, but we have to enjoy this team while we have it.

Even guys like Luke/PP/Sam are going to probably get paid pretty well by other teams especially if we win it all.
I imagine the focus’s is going to be Keeping JT/JB/KP/DW and a skeleton crew around them.

  20. This team as currently constructed will probably only be competitive this season and the next, yes, but we’ve seen Brad reload around the jays so many times I wouldn’t sweat something like this already

  21. I can’t imagine our roster being built any better than it is right now. Is there a single roster move that would help us beat Denver, short of trading for one of their players?
