What’s everyone’s take on Vaughn?

1. He’s shown year to year improvement but still below what expectations were. Sox did him dirty not starting him in the minors and making him play out of position in the bigs cuz Jerry didn’t want to pay or Kenny/Rick couldn’t get a an outfielder

2. He’s wishy washy. Can’t count on him offensively to get guys on base home when he’s up to bat (although no player of ours is at this point). Honestly, probably middle of the pack with this roster. I want to see Roberts go off and our new guys get some momentum. I also want Jimenez to start the season like he did ST.

3. He is what he is. League average hitter which doesn’t really cut it for 1B. I wouldn’t expect some miraculous late bloomer type of development. He’s an ideal back-up 1B/DH on a good team.

4. Unfortunately he’s only shown he’s a replacement level or below player. Hopefully he takes a step forward but I don’t see it happening

5. Hes gonna have to be a lot better this year lets put it that way.

6. This is his “make or break” year.

7. His eyes are too close together.

8. I think Vaughn breaks out this year – but it could just be wishful thinking

9. I want so badly for him to be good.

   But he’s going to have to really put it all together and go out and prove it this year or it’s time we might have to start looking at future alternatives at 1B.

10. 1st round pick who is 25 and a below average hitter for his position. Bonus: slow as fuck

11. I like his approach and think he will improve. Unfortunately, I think he is just too small and lacks the power to be an elite power hitter.

15. He’s was pretty solid for us last year, is still pretty young. I think he just gets better

17. He’s a terrible athlete. All his value is in his bat, which is below average for a 1B/DH. So if people are being honest he’s pretty disappointing

18. He’s not a bust but he’s definitely a bust. Would love for him to be great but just don’t see it happening.

19. He doesn’t have a good baseball face.

20. The Sox rushed him to the majors and he’s not proven to be worthy of a 1st round pick.

21. He looks like Wallace from Wallace and Gromit

22. The bat has to be close to a sure thing when you draft a slow below average defensive 1B. He’s gotta hit like Konerko to live up to his draft position or close to it. In 3 seasons, he doesn’t even have a a 1 WAR yet. Sox we’re gonna pick one of the top 3 in the draft, but it sucks to see Adley & Witt look so much better
