Waddle: The Bears Have Been Sold On Caleb Williams For A Long Time

YouTube video (9min): The Bears Have Been Sold On Caleb Williams For A Long Time

I've been hearing counter-arguments to drafting Caleb Williams every once and a while (J. J. McCarthy rumors anyone?) which I don't agree. I find it good to hear from a local media member regarding the Bears intentions.

Thoughts?

  1. That’s kiiind of not what he said. He said they’ve been sold on his talent for a long time, but only recently got to know the person. And he thinks that they like the person even more than the QB.

But they weren’t sold on him until they liked both.

  2. Was there any talk in like 2009 that the Lions were not “sold” on Stafford?

or in 2012 that the Colts were not “sold” on Luck?

yeah, sometimes these guys don’t pan out, but a consensus #1 is called “consensus” for a reason, right?

  3. We’re drafting Caleb Williams. We’ve always been drafting Caleb Williams. Caleb Williams is the pick. Caleb Williams is a Chicago Bear. That’s it. That’s all you need to know.

  4. Frankly I think we should all be very thankful that our consensus #1 pick’s biggest “red flags” are that he paints his nails and cried after losing a game he cared about

  5. When every scout worth a damn has been saying for years now That Caleb is a special talent, it should have been a no brainer that we’d be drafting him #1 unless Justin took a massive step forward this year. He didn’t

  6. They are putting off announcing anything mostly because Poles is methodical. Not going to say anything definite until he gets the Chicago visit. He probably just told Williams more already and just to go through the motions, if for no other reason to make other teams work at figuring out what it would cost them to possibly trade up for the 1OA.

  7. I’m always curious how him and Kap seem so confident in their opinions on things. Do they have inside sources at the team? It’s not like they’re half as plugged in as someone like Courtney Cronin.
