This is probably due to the void years on the Mike Williams and Tyron Smith deals. Most comes from Rodgers I bet. This basically proves that the FO is definitely trying to make a push this year
Void years take up the salary cap to sign players?
For the Jets it’s an insignificant amount with salary cap growth yearly, just using 2024 as an example. Teams can push a lot of money forward a few years that won’t inhibit them as the league increases cap.
That doesn’t mean it doesn’t have impact but as we’ve seen this FA period having the most cap doesn’t guarantee all the good FAs.
People were whining the Jets only had $6 million a month ago and they signed some big names by being attractive and creative and the expanded cap.
