Refs sucked, PP could be better, DeSmith did great though.
Incredulous no call boarding/interference/tripping Heiskanen on Joshua and comparative ticky tack high stick call on Blueger. That was the game, thanks refs. Otherwise it was a great close exciting hockey game and boys looked pretty good.

I hate high sticks and the reffing could have been better, but you’ve got to capitalize on those powerplays.
Unfortunately, special teams continue to be a major struggle for this team. At this point, I doubt they solve that issue. We will need to count on Demko and Lindholm coming back to help us win games. While Bains and Podz generally had a good game, especially Bains, I’m not sure they are ready for the NHL let alone the playoffs.
GLARING issues while being a man up and not taking advantage of it. Doesn’t matter if it’s PP or with our goalie pulled. This needs to be addressed asap because the past few months hasn’t shown us anything in anyway significant to actually doing so.
They need to try diff guys on the pp… it’s not working and hasn’t for awhile. Throw garland or hogs onto PP1 instead of Suter. They at least play like they want the puck.

Net front presence was absolute shit. How many times was there a juicy rebound only for the man to be standing way too close to the net to capitalize?
Refs absolutely fucking stunk. Also Miller was horrible tonight, probably didn’t help that we for some reason changed ever single line for some reason. Rick has done great this season but his obsession with switching the lines up every night is so irritating. Joshua was good, looked rusty but some of those old plays he was making before the injury shone through in spurts. Hopefully that third line can get their magic back going again
Okay I’m being optimistically delusional here, What-if we are doing this just to give the impression that we are ultra beatable, then in the playoffs we just gonna destroy each team with some stellar plays 👀

I’ve seen bad games but I don’t think I’ve been this mad since maybe that Seattle game. Between the reffing and the incredible amount of dumb penalties taken and the power play, this really was a game to boil my blood. We could’ve won, we really could’ve but both the refs and the players didn’t really seem to want it.
The power play is worrisome, for sure. I really think they need to switch up the stale perimiter strategy. There’s not enough movement to open shooting lanes.
Oh well. On to the next one.

The Canucks’ consistent inability to get the puck out of their own zone is going to be their downfall if they don’t figure it out.
Way too many extended shifts defending when the puck should have gone out two or three times. Can’t complain about reffing as the reason for the loss when we give a top team so many chances to keep pressure on.
I would say if they did call the obvious pens and we suck on the pp. While stars still score i would say fair enough we need to be better. But to put away the whistles and ignore a pretty dangerous hit to only call a pen when a guy drags a canucks stick into his face. Is such a fucking joke i really wish that most refs in the league would get fired.
I’d rather watch that live action Dragonball movie 1000x than the Canucks powerplay again.

It’s actually so unfair being a fan of a Canadian hockey team. It always feels like there are two teams you have to fight in one game, I think we arguably outplayed Dallas most of the game, but multiple meh penalties were called on us and multiple calls were missed on Dallas. That goal was 100% high sticking too, it looked to be ear level.
Although we did lose, we played well. DeSmith played his ass off, and every player looked great on both sides of the ice. Very physical play and we were winning most faceoffs.
Going to be sour with this game for a bit, we were totally robbed. I hate how the NHL is ran nowadays.

Honestly, we have had a bad PDO below 1.00 since the ASG (around 0.985) it kind of contributed to our slump and record. We are actually better in advance stats and expected goals for during that time span. So that’s why I don’t care all those wins we got early in the season we don’t deserve because it evens out eventually.
PP is a joke, Petey is missing again, net front presence is non-existent, and screw the refs, who calls something like that so late in the game.
What can they do to fix this janky broken ass power play. When we’re constantly losing by a goal that useless power play is the difference between a win and a loss. Figure it the fuck out

Lol, usually i’m the one saying you cant blame the refs and tonight its the other way around. The refs ruined this game. There’s zero need to call most of the penalties they called. Also, that first goal was a high stick. If it’s too close to call on a HIGH STICK, then the stick was obviously high enough to start measuring off the guys shoulder and shit.
These are two playoff teams looking to clinch, fucking let them play. The refs made a bad call then ended up chasing it with more bad make up calls. It’s infuriating to watch.

At the beginning of the year I was stoked just at the thought of making the playoffs, I’m not thinking past 1st round. From what iv seen they just don’t have that extra level and Petey has been deciding to take way too many nights off, like completely checked out. If he just ha a little of what Miller has every night it would make a world of difference.

That reffing was bordering that Minnesota game in terms of the blatant shit that wasnt called and then the soft shit that was. Man I dont wanna blame the refs because that pp was bad. But thatw was fucking abhorrent. Absolutely and utterly disgusting.
I only watched the 3rd period. The only sustained o zone pressures were with Petey line on the ice. Not sure why people are shitting on Petey?

That was one of the most frustrating games of the season.
Like, score a power play goal. Jesus. The reffing was a joke as usual, but we had 4 power plays and did nothing. When the 2nd unit hops over the boards with 45 seconds left it honestly feels like we’re back to playing 5 v 5. The 1st unit can at least get in and snap it around, but they’ve got to start putting the puck on net and generating chances.
You just knew as soon as Dallas got that late PP and started snapping it around that they were going to score.

PP: Hughes to Pettersson to Hughes to Pettersson who tries to pass to the bumper and gets intercepted. Tried again. Hughes to miller to Hughes to Petey to Hughes for a shot that other teams have now been able to predict and stop easily. Dumped into our zone.
