  1. I always believed Smith would stay despite the calls to trade him and Karlsson would be just as important to the team after an off year. Now this is probably the best Golden Knights team we have ever had, and these guys have been a big part of helping it get there.

Pretty cool to see, and I’m glad it’s silenced that part of the fanbase who were so ready to cut em loose.

  2. I think it came down to Karli having a couple off years after his big breakout and people thinking that year must’ve been a fluke, coupled with his long contract. Honestly I think it was more due to a milquetoast coach who was unable to harness the potential of his team and motivate them. Gallant was a strong coach and so is Cassidy which is why I think we’re seeing some of these players have a Renaissance.

  3. When it comes to Karlsson, the coaching change helps him out quite a bit I think. He was great under Gallant, but dwindled pretty soon under DeBoer. Had DeBoer stuck around, he would’ve had to be moved. He just really was not working under DeBoer (like anyone really was).

  4. It was mostly a few trolls that appeared on this sub during the spring time when it was becoming apparent that missing the playoffs was a huge possibility.

Those trolls have since disappeared probably to return when things get bad again so they can manipulate this sub into negative emotions and terrible takes. Im surprised that few people saw through their shitty takes that we were being very subtly trolled just enough to piss us off but not enough to get banned from this sub. It was genius trolling to honest.

  5. I heard a lot of complaints about Karlsson, but I felt like the talk about moving Smith was mostly cap reasons rather than underperforming. He had a good year last year. He was above his career average PPG.
