  1. 5-2 on the season so far against Miami. I’ll take that.

Goodbye Arraez, Cooper, and friends. Now that we won’t see you till September go beat up Philly and Atlanta.

  2. For as bad as Carrasco was, this is a very different game if we score with RISP

  3. Padres series is going to be embarrassing, Cookie giving up runs is one thing but that can’t distract from the fact that they scored 2 runs against the poverty Marlins with their giant payroll

  4. Well that was a normal loss if I’ve ever had to see one. Worried about Carrasco he might be finished but things just didn’t break our way today.

  5. Hey, at least Nogosek ate some inning, saved the pen a bit. Also 5-2 vs the Marlins in this stretch, beating up on the bad teams like you are supposed to. Everyone enjoy the rest of your Easter.

  6. We started the season like world beaters last year, only to end in a wild card loss.

We’re shaping up to not even get that far this year.

  7. * The 2023 Mets are 5-5 in the regular season. The Mets have scored 39 runs and allowed 46 runs. The Mets have played in 9,657 regular season games with 4,656 wins, 4,993 losses and eight ties. The Mets were 101-61 in 2022. The Mets are 139-132 on Sundays since 2012.

    * The Mets have nine hit by pitch so far this season, the most in the majors. The 2022 Mets led the majors with 112 hit by pitch. The Mets are second in the majors with 43 walks drawn, ten behind the Dodgers.

    * The Mets are 274-233 against the Marlins, 13-6 last year. The Mets will not face the Marlins again until September 18th.

    * Of the Marlins’ all-time top 25 players by Baseball Reference wins above replacement, the Marlins traded away 23 of them. This includes active players Giancarlo Stanton, JT Realmuto and Miguel Rojas. AJ Burnett left as a free agent after a failed trade to Baltimore and Jose Fernandez was killed in a boat crash.

    * Pete Alonso has 25 career homers against the Marlins, second behind David Wright who had 26 career homers against the Marlins. Garrett Cooper has ten career homers against the Mets.

    * Pete Alonso has 151 homers for the Mets, 40 last season. Alonso is the first Met ever with multiple seasons of 40 or more home runs. Alonso is sixth in franchise history, behind Dave Kingman who had 154 homers. Darryl Strawberry hit 252 homers followed by David Wright who hit 242 homers for the Mets, Mike Piazza who had 220 homers and Howard Johnson who had 192 homers. Of course Alonso would have had more homers if the 2020 season was not limited to 60 games.

    * Lucas Duda is the Mets franchise leader with 71 homers at Citi Field followed by Michael Conforto with 66, Pete Alonso with 65 homers and David Wright with 49 homers. Darryl Strawberry had 123 homers for the Mets at Shea Stadium followed by Mike Piazza with 97 and Howard Johnson with 90. Frank Thomas was the Mets home run leader at the Polo Grounds with 26.

    * Brandon Nimmo has 57 career hit by pitch, the most in franchise history. The 1898 Orioles had 160 hit by pitch, the previous modern record is 105 hit by pitch by the 2021 Cincinnati Reds.

Next game: RHP Yu Darvish vs. RHP Max Scherzer on SNY and WCBS at 19:10

  8. Well that’s pretty bad huh, kinda wanted a sweep before the Dads come to town… need to hold our own those games and then we absolutely need to sweep the A’s, like they are the bottom of the barrel you need to sweep them, no excuse!!

  9. Carrasco is a wash, a total shitter, seems like a nice guy so I feel bad but he need some AAA starts or something to get back in a routine because he does not have MLB stuff at this point.

  10. Carrasco starts look like automatic losses with the way he’s pitching right now.

Don’t really expect a lineup with Pham, Locastro, Guillorme, and Escobar to score that much.

Just try and win the padres series. Can’t get swept.

  11. And I got downvoted for saying it looks like they are mailing this one in.

And then they proceeded to mail it in.

  12. Honest question, if the Diaz injury happened before Bauer signed in Japan or wherever he can have dominatrix sessions without scrutiny, do you think the MLB would have been more forgiving if we signed him? I mean, I’ll take Bauer any day over Carassco even if he is a complete piece of trash. I was just thinking about all the hype when we thought Cohen signed him 2-3 years ago. Just a thought , throwing itout there.

  13. this was a loss i could live with. had opportunities, just didn’t cash em in. it’ll happen. games like those two brewers games are the infuriating ones. now lets take this padres series

  14. Do you think we see a Carrasco DFA at some point this year? Cohen has shown he is willing to do it with Cano and Ruf. Not afraid to cut bait on failed experiments

  15. I missed todays game. Looks like the bats are back, but Cookie is still having a lot of trouble? Do we think he’ll be an issue or will he settle in?

  16. Still early. We don’t need to be acting like Frank Fleming. Cookie does stink though

  17. I feel like we have too many games this early in the season when all that can be said after is “well, that sucked”

  18. The rays are 9-0. The diamondbacks are in the first place in the west. Miami is in third place and the Phillies are in 4th. Just a quick reminder that there are 152 games left and none of this will matter in a few months. The season started last week. Next point: Alvarez is 21 years old. There are 3 other 21 year olds and one 20 year old in the entire league. Alvarez was the youngest player to appear in a mlb game last season. He’s YOUNG, but he’s also our number one prospect and one of the best prospects in baseball for a reason. The kid rakes. He could easily have 20 more years of Major League Baseball in front of him. Give him time. Once the anxiety wears down and a little and he feels a bit more comfortable he’s going to start showing people why he’s rated as highly as he is.

Obviously losing games like this isn’t ideal, but this is solely on Carlos. The Mets had 9 hits and were down 3 runs before they even got an at bat. All of the sudden they’re playing from behind the entire game, adding more pressure to the players and not just letting the game come to them. When you’re behind like this, you force things. That’s why we have Buck as our manager. He’s gonna get the players right. Long season, guys. Sorry, doomers, but the season doesn’t end after the 2nd week of the season.

  19. Many fake Mets fans here that would trade our team and payroll for the Pirates start. Sad!

  20. Carrasco is throwing meatballs at 89 MPH and he says he, “feels good physically.” If you feel good and you’re getting shelled, you’re not good.

    Jeez cut this guy already.

  21. I’m worried about Carrasco. No doom here, it’s way early, but I still believe every game counts.

  22. Frank the tank mentioned why not Britton? word must be out on his medicals that he’s just not serviceable, but wouldn’t only the Yankees only know that?
