Report: Cardinals in talks with Yadi to bring him back as a coach

  1. At the least, they need him positioning the defense since apparently he was the one doing it (according to Helsley on a espn101 interview).

  2. I’ll believe it when I see it.

I always thought he wanted to go home a.d stay for a while.

The idea seems too good to be true.

  3. Does our ownership/FO have any ideas that don’t involve hiring from within or bringing back old players for roles? Not saying I don’t want Yadi back but they NEVER look outside the organization and I really believe that’s a least partially why their in their current position. Too many yes men.

  4. Yadi will be the next Joe Torre, except all with one team and double the world series victories.

    I can dream…..

  5. Not much substance here. Just “talks”. I don’t have much faith in it happening but it would be amazing

  6. I said last year I can totally see a world where eventually yadi Pujols and Waino are coaching this team in some capacity. Yadi being the main guy. Waino kind of has eluded that he has some broadcast opportunities if he wants it. That’s a much easier job.

Anyways, the only downside to Bringing in yadi now is similar to skip. People are going to want to poach him to be their manager. Especially once he gets a couple years under the belt. We can’t lose yadi to another org. How would you elevate him over Oli if they somehow start seeing success?

  7. I think he could un-fuck a lot of problems. Not all of them but it would be a start. Ideally I want him as a manager at some point, dude could be like having Red all over again. That kind of baseball IQ doesn’t come around often.

  8. Personally, I would like to have one season without a former star Cardinal that is over the age of 40 distract from the product on the field. Love Yadi. Love Waino. Adore Albert. Please don’t bring any of these guys back right now in any coaching capacity.

  9. Give him all the money, I don’t care. Make him manager for life and fire Marmol yesterday. This team was absolutely lifeless without him.

  10. He would be the perfect pitching coach. I don’t want to go through another year of Dusty Blake pretending to know what he is doing

  11. If he does become a coach I hope his basketball doesn’t make the playoffs again during the season.

  12. This could be anything from “here are the contract terms, do we have a deal” to someone in the front office just saying “it would be nice to have Yadi on the coaching staff.”

  13. Please baseball gods, let this happen. Cards obviously cannot function without Yadi and Marmol keeps making it worse.

  14. Great. Do it.

But don’t think you don’t have to invest in the team also. Don’t use it as a reason not to.

  15. It worked before! His last couple seasons it felt like he was coaching on the field more than the coach standing in the dugout. Bring him back into the mix to work with the players and bridge the gap with the current coach. LETS GOOO!

  16. I like the idea of hiring from outside of the org and I get it, but a chance to have a generational defensive catcher like Yadi as a coach in any capacity would be hard to not be excited for.

  17. A story would be great. This is just a headline with a few “might” opinions and no substance. But we clicked so I guess mission accomplished.
