1. Brett at anything over 6 is a massive mistake.

   Love the guy but he’s not a 7M player even with the cap rising. He’s just not producing enough offensively to get him a high end contract.
   He literally put up less goals than Chatfield who didn’t have a goal until January last year….

   He’s lucky because with Orlov starting slow he can point to that deal and go why the hell is he at 7 and I can’t be?

   But his current performance isn’t great especially when his line mate is our leading scorer and also could be signed.

   Also just not sure how we are having discussions about garland. He’s going to be stapled to our bottom 6 and his current deal is nearly 5M a year…

2. In on him or kicking the tires to see what else shakes free?

3. Garland has two seasons after this one on a 5m contract and is not that good. I could see a change of scenery being beneficial but A. The guy plays w Pettersson and Hughes each night and still puts up underwhelming and B. We tried the change of scenery thing with Pully and look at how that turned out. The only way I see it make sense if it’s a situation where Vancouver sends us something additional for taking him on + retains 50%, and even then, there are way better trees to bark up

   I hope this is Pagnotta being wrong again.
