Hope was a 2023 round 11 pick, while Ferris was a 2nd round pick in 2022. Busch is still ranked 44 in mlb prospects overall.
Alright someone get me excited about Busch
seems like a win win. dodgers are probably gonna develop Ferris into a TOR starter tho lol
Good deal for both teams.
Wtf
Jackson Ferris for and up and down 29 year old reliever
Hope was considered to be a steal but Ferris was looking like a potential ace. Not excited about this
I like it. That’s why the farm was built up – you gotta use that depth somehow.
I’m not thrilled about trading away Jackson Ferris. Especially for another prospect. That also means the Cubs are out on Chapman.
If both sides think they lost the trade who won?
I’m fine with it.
Fine with it. Too much prospect hugging.
Never liked Busch… Plus I also liked ferris and hope was a dark horse prospect.. Im not liking this for the cubs.
All Hope is lost.
C’MON SOMEONE HAD TO SAY IT
Two in the hand worth one in the Busch
I’m sad to see Ferris go. He was incredible as a teenager pitching in Low A. Really great potential.
I would imagine Busch starts with the team. At the very least in spring training. I wonder if this makes wisdom the odd man out
After signing Imanaga Ferris kinda became expendable and I’m glad we got a top prospect in return
Although I was pretty stoked to see Ferris develop this year
Ferris is a good prospect, but if Busch is the middle of the order bat he is supposed to be, this is a win.
I love it. Trade the possible upside years from now for some certainty right now.
For a young, controllable lefty bat who plays two positions of need? Well done Jed.
This is a terrible trade. A 26 year old who’s never been in the bigs?
Michael Busch better be a fucking good MLB player, because Ferris in the Dodgers org with their pitching development is absolutely terrifying to imagine. I also feel vindicated in my love for Hope, he definitely has the talent to potentially haunt us as well, though he’s so far off and there are many obstacles that will lie ahead. I’d much rather give up a package like Ben Brown and BJ Murray/whoever, but I doubt the Dodgers would have pulled the trigger on that. They know what they’re doing.
Looks like a win-win trade to me. We got a lefty slugger we’ve been searching for just hope he can play a decent enough of 1B.
I really like it. With low level prospects you always have the risk of them fizzling out, and even if Ferris did make it he would have been blocked by the 3 lefties in the rotation
Kinda sad they traded Ferris.
Knowing the Dodgers, they can turn shit into gold. My stomach turns when the dodgers, rays, or braves name come up in cubs trade.
For Ohtani, right?
Fair trade:
Michael Busch can rake; and he’s done it everywhere he’s been. He’s a 1B/DH type and like any hitter might take a year or so to hit his stride in the majors which is normal. The dodgers even tried to have him work on being a 3rd Baseman or Corner Outfielder but his defense, but he didn’t quite take to it fast enough; that shows you they did think highly of his bat.
He could be league average or he could be an all star in a few years; who knows? But the kid can play in the majors so I think that’s something Cubs fans can be excited about. He’s a cost controlled young player in prime years who could potentially be of great value.

On the flip side he was blocked by freeman/jd and now ohtani; the dodgers needed to make room in their 40 man, and if he wasn’t part of an offseason trade (seems like the Rays wanted arms back for glasnow not bats) he had to be moved. They got back a Pitcher who went in similar slot (signing wise) as Busch and was on track in his first year as a pro. And then probably another guy with tools who is on track to be a top -15 player in a system.
But basically a prospect(s) for prospect(s) trade; just different places in their development paths. All of them on track.
So many people complaining about trading a 19 year old.
Y’all must have forgotten about the greatness of:
Micah Hoffpauir Corey Patterson Felix Pie Hee Seop Choi Josh Vitters
So many prospects don’t make it and this kid is so far away. I’m not saying Busch is going to be an all star but all of these youngsters aren’t staying in Chicago and some of you need to realize that.
Just please tell me this is not Edwin Rios all over again
The people who got pissed when we traded for prospects and are now also pissed that we traded away prospects are simply impossible to please.
Just wait for the Dodgers pitching rotation of Ferris Buehler
I really hope Ferris doesn’t become a similar situation to Cease.
I had hopes that Ferris would pan out and be a TOR, hopefully it isn’t somewhere else.
Ferris-Buehler two-headed dragon gonna dominate for years
too bad, I bet their names were above Kerry Wood on the Cubs convention promotional poster
