Wolves rookie Jaylen Clark (who ruptured his Achilles in March ‘23) posts video of himself in full speed 5 on 5 scrimmage

Pretty much no chance (or need) for him to be ready to play games this year, but exciting to think the Timberwolves will be adding a former Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year and finalist for the Naismith Men's Defensive Player of the Year to this already stacked defense.

Clark was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year after averaging 13 points, six rebounds, 2.6 steals and 1.9 assists in 30 games as a junior. He finished sixth in the country in steals per game, second in defensive box plus-minus (plus-6.7) and 12th in defensive win shares (2.7).

Tim Connelly: “We’re super excited about Jaylen Clark. We had him as a high first-round grade all year. Unfortunately, he had the injury. We think there is no better wing defender in the draft. I think he brings an aggression, toughness and intelligence that allows guys like that to make it.”

  1. Love that he’s wearing the AE1’s (at least I think he is?)

Looked a bit hesitant coming off that screen but I know it’ll probably take awhile for him to get the confidence back in trusting his body after an achilles. Good to see him back out there and it’s always great to have young players with potential who can hopefully come in and help this team in the future

  2. Will be nice if he can contribute as well as miller, once McLaughlin in Anderson are gone

  3. His defensive highlights are super fun. Very cool that he’s been able to rehab with the team all year and be around the guys on the bench, travel with the team, rather than being alone or in Iowa. I imagine next year he’ll start in Iowa

  4. I have been more excited about Clark over Miller, I can’t wait to see him play. He would have been a high draft pick if it wasn’t for his injury.

  5. Wait, are we going to gloss over someone pulling up injured here? Tough to see, but maybe Kyle Anderson?

  6. Him and miller could be good replacements for lil mac and kyle anderson down the line. Both seem super raw but have a nice talent level for where they were picked
